you give and take away
This last Sunday, God gave in abundance.
He's been spending the week slowly taking it all away.
I guess that's his prerogative.

Balls.
This is going to be quick, because I need to go bleed my ears.....
But I am having a night of PURE panic.
This happens every now and then.
Not since Sophmore year when I discovered I had forgotten a huge ear training assignment and didn't recall it until midnight....Anyone remember that one? I do believe there was a great deal of sobbing and jumping up and down on the Horvit book screaming about how much I hate it.
Years later I have matured.
That's right.
We have developed a much more adult way of handling things.
By sobbing in my loft, calling my parents, sobbing to them, and then glaring at my computer....Sending it thoughts about how much I hate it.
My vocal lit teacher is awesome.
She is not, however, organized.
And instead of writing assignments down, chooses to sort of verbally toss them off, changing them at will.
A small quiz over one Spanish song set for Wednesday has this afternoon become a huge quiz over 33 Spanish Art Songs.
We have had this music since Friday.
*drumroll please.....*

..........All I want to do is live in a cave with nothing but musical theatre for the rest of my life, emerging only for national holidays.

The girl I mean to be
It finally happened.
I finally found a place I love in this city.
I've been waiting to find a place somewhere, where I didn't feel homesick, didn't feel out of place, didn't feel self-concious.
Today I found it.
For weeks now I've been seeing previews for this movie 'Bright Star' about the romance between romatic poet John Keats and Fanny Braun.
However, it looked kind of 'independent/art-housy' and I didn't know if it would be anywhere around.
A quick google search of theatres in Minneapolis revealed an independent movie theatre in Uptown (literally 'Uptown Theater') that would be showing the movie.
I was decided.
Today Christy and I ventured into the 'undiscovered country' of Uptown and check it out.
This place was awesome.
Awe-some.
It's this huge buildling in a really cool hip neighborhood filled with people and eating places and stores.
The interior of the art house is super art deco and has big chandeliers and a HUGE theatre (only one screen). It used to be an actual 'performance' theatre before it was a movie house, so there's a stage and art-deco murals on the walls and super high ceilings and rounded corners.
It is SO COOL inside.
And did I mention the theatre has a blacony. A big beautiful balcony.
Rock on.
The atmosphere was super laid back and one got the impression that everyone who was there, comes there every week.
The movie was great.
(ooooooh passionate romantic period pieces, how you do pierce my heart. thank you bbc!)
Looks like a lot of other cool sort of british period things are coming in the future, and I'm really excited to go back.
They also do showings of just, fun old movies.
Looks like they're going to start showing 'The Muppet Movie' soon!! AHHHH!!!! FUN!!!
I'm also debating going to a 'Rocky Horror' showing there this October.
I've never been to a real one in a theatre, and I'm a little afraid.
I don't know all the things you're supposed to yell out, and I don't have a costume or anything....But I feel like it'd be especially cool in this theatre because it's so atmospheric and has a real stage in front of the screen for people to dance on.
I don't know.
We'll see.
I am just so glad I found this place.
I felt so comfortable and snug the moment I walked in.
It's special.

Book Blogging Appreciation Week
Here's a list of questions in honor of book blogging appreciation week, which I stole from an actual book blog (not a silly one like mine)!
I love books!
Do you snack while you read? If so, favorite reading snack?
No snacking really, but I do like to have a diet pepsi next to me.
Do you tend to mark your books as you read, or does the idea of writing in books horrify you?
The idea absolutely does NOT horrify me. Books are meant to be loved, and the more wear, the more love they've had. However, I do not tend to write in books while I read them, I'm too involved to have thoughts of my own while I'm reading the author's!
How do you keep your place while reading a book? Bookmark? Dog-ears? Laying the book flat open?
Dog-ears. I know it's naughty....But I don't care. They're my books and if I want to save my favourite parts I will! I also like to break the binding and lay them flat.
Fiction, Non-fiction, or both?
Fiction.
Hard copy or audiobooks?
Audiobooks for the car, hard copy everywhere else.
Are you a person who tends to read to the end of chapters, or are you able to put a book down at any point?
End of the chapter. Part of how I keep tricking myself into staying up late. "One more chapter!"
If you come across an unfamiliar word, do you stop to look it up right away?
Nah. However, that doesn't happen very often anyway.
What are you currently reading?
Working on re-reading all the Harry Potter books. I'm on 'Order of the Phoenix' right now.
Are you the type of person that only reads one book at a time or can you read more than one at a time?
I like to read them one at a time. Much in the same way that I don't like to mix my foods.
Do you have a favorite time of day and/or place to read?
In my bed right before I go to sleep. Flashlight propped on my shoulder to provide light. =D
Do you prefer series books or stand alone books?
Well, that depends on the quality of the book doesn't it? A fantastic series is better than a crappy stand-alone and vice versa.
Is there a specific book or author that you find yourself recommending over and over?
Jasper Fforde. Could everyone just go out and buy the entire 'Thursday Next' series right now? It's the most original, witty, and entertaining thing you will ever read.
How do you organize your books? (By genre, title, author’s last name, etc.?)
In my bedroom at home they're sort of organized by genre (I had a long day in which to do it a few years ago..) but everywhere else they're organized by size. Tall to short. I like symmetry.
Now go and enjoy a good book!

Gotta find his corner of the sky
Here are some new pictures of my loveable kitty Pippin.
Well, first things first. He likes to sleep on his back, or his side in very strange positions...
One day we found him sleeping in the bathroom sink! However, he woke up when I screeched in delight and ran to get my camera. Woops.
He also likes to attack feet!...Admittedly I provoke him by rolling him over while he's sleeping...lol.
And...ouch!!
He decided to try and eat my shoes the other night.
The moved on to the closet. I distracted him here, but you can still see his little paw under the door. HA! Caught you red pawed!
He must not have liked the mocking, because next he turned on the camera.
What?
He has a habit of making himself comfortable, wherever you are. This includes the top of my desk when I'm working on my computer.
Did he take a key off the keyboard the other day when he slipped off the desk? Yes, yes he did.
But he's just so darned cute. I love him anyway.
