Confirmed!

I am a Hobbit.
I've been saying it for years and now it has been confirmed via facebook quiz.

So there Mom.
I told you I had Hobbit feet.

Yessssssss!
Now when do I get my little hobbit hole with the round door?

=D

And you Scarecrow, I think I'll miss you most of all.

Back from choir tour today.
Holy crap.
That was rough.

Last concert.

As a gift to the choir, Weston Noble allowed AJ to get up and conduct not only the traditionals (Hark I Hear, Give me Jesus), but Elijah Rock as well.

It was amazing.
It was perfect.
It was what we needed and wanted to see.
AJ is such a great conductor, and such a great Wartburg brother.

It was super rough though.
He kept doing all this 'Tork-isms' and everyone was sobbing.
Ack.
It's hard.
I mean, you know that there's still Mayterm, and you know that there's Facebook...
But at the same time you also know, deep down in your heart that you probably will never see some of these people ever again after graduation.
And that, my friends, bites the big one.

It isn't only that though, it's the realization that over four years a community has been created.
This campus is a place where we know the landscape, the ins and outs of the buildings, the professors, and the people.
We walk around and know the people who surround us, who live next door, who share our classes.
And now we have to leave all that behind and venture into new areas where the landscape is strange, and so are the people.
All that work, all that time, all that history.
And it's, for all intents and purposes, gone in a month.
We will move on and start anew.

It's scary.
Strike that,
it's terrifying.
I love these people.
I love them all.
Even the ones I don't like, are part of this world I've created.
And now I know I'm going to lose some of them.
Oh people say they'll 'stay in touch', but the reality is that a lot of them never do.
And you lose them.
*sigh*
And you know what? It sucks to lose people you love.

I don't like this!
I don't like change!
Stop it!
Stop it right now!
Booooo change!

In other news...
Still have to get a job for this summer.
ummmm......yeahh.....

This is the dawning of the age of....dayquil

I've been studying for my German final all day today, but I don't think anything went into my brain.
I just kept staring at the paper willing the information to sink in, but nothing happened.

Ack.

Sooooo much medicine in my system.

OK.

Whatever.

I've done all I can do.
So I think I'll just walk in tomorrow, look at my test, and go, *writing motion* "Bleh".
Then it will be over.
I can't think anymore.

Night Everyone!
Finals are almost over!
WOOT!

An answer

Apparently you would.

Tuesday, April 14, 2009

A prayer...

Dear Lord,
You know all that is important to me.
You know how everything will turn out.
You know what is right for me, and what is wrong.
So I know as I sit here with my suddenly soar throat and nose, and my achey body, I just know that you are not sending me a sinus infection.
Not 6 days before my important vocal auditions.
Not now.
You wouldn't do that to me.
Not just when I have to sound my best.
Not when my job for next year depends on it.
Not when the money to aid in my overly expensive tuition could be earned from these auditions.
I just know you wouldn't ravage my vocal chords and leave them weakened for those important days.
You wouldn't.
......Would you?

Much love and much trust,
Rachel

Back in Business and ain't it grand?

Yo peeps.
What up?

Well, I've just finished my henious Form and Analysis take-home test.
YUCK!
That was awful.
That was God awful.
That took a long time.
Ack.
Horrible.
Just.....*shivers* horrible.
To quote Brumhilda in 'Robin Hood: Men in Tights', "If I vas you, I vould nevah do zat again!"

In other news, I have applied for many jobs for this summer.
Hopefully someone will hire me.
Come on bookstores!
Hire me!
I'm a good worker I promise!
Who cares if I have retail experience!
I've spent most of my life in bookstores!

More news...
I am going to University of Minnesota next year.
For sure.
If I don't get the job in the Minnesota Opera Chorus (Next Wednesday is the audition! PRAY!), then I'll need to work in a bookstore of something.
Which is why it's kind of important that I get some experience this summer.

Exciting bits are....Christy and I are going to live together!
Yay apartment hunting!
My first apartment everyone!
I'm going to be, like, an adult soon!
*squeel*
I'm going to have bookshelves and homey things!
Awesomeness.

I'm heading back to The 'Burg tomorrow.
It's finals week yo.
Ugh.
Since I just finished my take-home test my only horrible things are my Shakespeare performance on Thursday (not all that horrible) and my German test on Friday (moderately horrible).
Then....OFF ON CHOIR TOUR!
Well, part of choir tour anyway.
I have to deviate for three days to go to Minn. for a Master class with the head of Minnesota Opera, and my Opera Chorus audition.
*whew!*
It's gonna be a long week, but I'm kind of excited.
It's going to be so much less involved compared to European tour.
Midwest tour?
Piece of cake!

Well, that's about all I've got for now.
I'll see most of you tomorrow, and some of you in the near future (Move to Minn. Kate and Chaz!) =D
Cheers mates.

Back in business and ain't it grand?
Let the goodtimes roll.
Yesterday things were out of hand,
now they're under control.

Wait.....what?

So.....
I haven't been doing homework.
And I really need to.
Or I'm going to explode when I get back to school on Tuesday.
And that would be sad.
And messy.
And Emily just vaccumed.
So....Not an option.

In other news, I just watched the Doctor Who Easter Special 'Planet of the Dead' and it pretty much ROCKED!!!!!!!!
HUZZAH FOR DOCTOR WHO!!!!!

I'm not going to post any spoilers, don't worry. (I'll give you about a week, and plenty of warning before I do).
Suffice it to say that it was amazing and awesome and everything I love about Doctor Who.

Every time I see the Racknos' smiling face, I thank my lucky stars that Donna turned left.
I think we can now safely broaden that to, 'Every time the earth is in danger' because, let's face it folks...There are much bigger problems than the Racknos on the horizon.

ACK!
I couldn't believe it, but the whole episode was up on youtube almost instantly after it aired in Britain!
Which is amazing because usually it takes them a few days.
So I immediately put in texts to all my whovian friends and let them know to get the heck on youtube before the BBC found the episode and removed it all!
*Curse you BBC! I love you and hate you all at once!*

Anyway...
The other news is that I am way stressed.
Way on edge right now.
I am just so emotionally....BLEH.
At school there is no time for a big 'BLEH', only little baby 'blehs' here and there.
Now I am at home, and enjoying (sarcasm) one heck of a 'BLEH!!!!'

Stupid finals week coming up right after Easter Break!
I will conquer you!
I will prepare before I return to school (hopefully...maybe...)
and not die!
So there!
=P

Anyway, I'm going to try and finish 'Inkspell' before bed (soo good by the way), so-
Cheers mates!

What was it all for?

Soooo......
Grad schools suck.

*sigh*

I got in to both UNI and Univeristy of Minnesota.
U of M is my choice.
There are more opportunities in the cities, and they do more performances per year which equals a more filled out resume.

The problem?
It's also almost twice the tuition of UNI.
....And I don't know how my parents are going to afford it.
Neither do they.
So I don't know where I'm going.

Also...It doesn't help that neither school offered me any scholarships.
Nada.
All those 'A's.
All that work in college.
A 3.8 GPA, and it wasn't good enough.
What did I work so hard for?
What was the point, if it all got me nothing?

I just feel like such a burden right now.
I spend so much time trying to make my parents proud.
Trying to keep my grades up and working hard for scholarships and such so they won't be stretched.
But they are stretched.
I stretch them.
And there is apparently nothing I can do about it.
And that.....Is frustrating beyond belief.

Dear God,
Was there anything I could have done better?
Answered a question a little more intellectually, been a bit more charismatic at my interviews?
I don't know.
All I know is that I'm making life hard for my parents.
And that's the last thing I want to do.
I know your will be done and all that.....But it would be really awesome if your will found some way to get me a lot of money really soon.

~Rachel

....Sometimes life doesn't work out the way you want it to.
And sometimes that really sucks.
A lot.

*sigh*
I don't know what's going to happen.
........Hellfire and damnation.

KNIGHTS ON BROADWAY!

Tonight was 'Knights on Broadway'.
Finally a year of planning, rehearsing, singing, dancing, and directing has come to a head.

We have been working so hard on this.
Everyone, not just Katie and myself.

I am just so incredibly proud of everyone.
I am busting with pride.

The show was an incredible success.
Everything went smoothly.
Everyone remembered their words (more or less) and their blocking.
We had a huge crowd.
The energy was high.
It was just a riot.
SO MUCH FUN!

The crowd loved it.
They laughed and clapped and 'woot'ed and even danced at the end.

Fan-frickin'-tastic.

An unmitigated success.

HUZZAH!

There's a reason for everything

...But I would really love to hear what God has to say about the stupid snow.

Saturday, April 4, 2009

Git while the gittin's good

It's the weekend.
At last.
And, as usual, I have a lot of stuff to get done.
Not a ton (like most of the campus), but a lot.

The group projects are still plaguing me.....Boo trying to find time to work with people!
I've got to start studying for some things, and figure out what to do for my presentation in Form & Analysis this Tuesday.
I have to finish my cummulative German study guide.
I have to write the narration for 'Knights on Broadway'.

Yeah.

And tomorrow is the home choir concert.
I'm worried that the snow and sleat which are on their way will really put a dent in the attendance, more specifically, my family's!
Emily said her parents are worried about getting here as well.
SAD DAY!
Stupid snow!
Leave us alone!
I want to see my parents on Sunday!

After the concert there's a reception for Tork (TORK IS COMING BACK!!!!!!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *jumping up and down*), and then I've got 'Knights on Broadway' rehearsal from 8-10pm.

I'm really excited about 'Knights on Broadway' (this Wednesday, 7:30pm in the Lyceum, tickets are free!).
I have my moments of doubt about a few numbers (memorization? what?) but I really think everyone's going to pull it together and we'll have a brilliant show.
People are just going to have to be patient this Monday and Tuesday.
Those are gonna be some long rehearsals.
But that's how it goes.
They're full runs and the more memorized and focused the cast is, the less time it takes.
So, really, they're the ones who dictate the length of the rehearsal.

In any case, the show is really coming together.
Monday we'll be getting our lighting and sound person, as well as our narrator and we'll finally get to see the true shape of what we've been working on since November. =D

Well, that's about all I've got time for.
I think I'm going to go visit Jill while she's working so we can work on our German dialogue.

Cheers mates!
Last week of classes coming up next!
WOOT!

I believe his promises......

THE TRAILER IS OUT FOR 'DOCTOR WHO'!!!!!!!!

AHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Planet of the dead.
Easter Sunday.

Get ready for some 'Epic'.
Hecks yeah.
