Tonight was the annual CHRISTMAS DINNER AT THE VICKERS!!!
For those of you who don't know, Christmas dinner is something that has happened every year probably since my Junior year of high school.
It is a gathering at my house within a few days of Christmas where all of my friends gather and bring Christmas foods (in the style of a potluck) to a turkey dinner.
We all get dressed up.
Mom sets the table formally.
We enjoy an extremely hardy meal.
Play holiday charades.
And have a gift exchange.
This year was no different.
Great food, great friends, carols around the piano (no. seriously. we did for like, 20min.), and good times.
This year (as she has been wont to do recently) Mom wrote us some new cards for our game of Christmas Charades, as we've been playing off the same cards for some 6 or 7 odd years.
The best one was when Alex drew 'The Governor of Syria'.
SERIOUSLY?!
'The Governor of Syria'?!?!?!!!!
How do you 'charades' that?!
It was pretty hilarious, but Alex was determined.
After plowing through the new homemade batch we generally pull out the original holiday charades cards and give them a go.
This is always really fun because at this point, we have the cards memorized.
It's just a matter of being the first person to shout it.
Sometimes turns only last a few seconds.
=D
This year in the gift exchange gifts were pretty good, some random, some awesome, some awesomely random.
Mine was the latter.
I got
~A giant stuffed energizer bunny
~A wooden reindeer
~A wooden pirate wall plaque thing
~A wooden teddy bear with moving arms and legs
~A 'Granny excercise sweatin' to the oldies' tape
~And.....my favourite........A carpet patch thing of JFK's head in front of the white house. We think it's a rug. Or a wallhanging. We aren't sure.
ROFLMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It was amazing.
I do believe that JFK will have to find a home in our apartment, possibly in one of the bathrooms, or on our kitchen floor (I am of the opinion that he is supposed to be a rug of some sort).
Chazse got a bag absolutely filled with girly bath and body works products, which everyone refused to steal from him 'cause it was just too funny watching him be frightened of the plethora of scents.
Let's see.....Hot items were the 'Oregon Trail' computer game, and the Nerf gun.
After the gift exchange we watched 'Dr. Horrible's Sing Along Blog'.
Only about three out of sixteen of us had seen it before, so it was pretty awesome. Everyone loved it. HAHA! How could they not?
He's Dr. Horrible.
He as a PHD in horribleness.
=D
After Dr. Horrible, some people left, and the rest of us just sort of hung out talking, sleeping, or playing spat.
At the end of the night some of us were standing on the porch (I was seeing people out) and we all agreed that Christmas Dinner is a wonderful thing. It is the one time out of the year that everyone gets to get together at the same time and get to catch up. We all know it's coming, we all plan for it, and it's a constant thing.
It was a good night.
A succesful night.
A night full of love, laughter, and a little bit of Christmas magic (That's right! I said magic!)
And to top it all off-
I walked away with JFK.
Pictures will hopefully follow soon!
